Wild Crush, recorded in their home-town of Bath,is Archie Bronson Outfit’s fourth album, and their first since Coconut in 2010.
Having waved farewell to founding member D Hobday and welcomed live collaborator Kristian Robinson (aka Capitol K) to help with some production and analogue synthesiser duties, the sound of A.B.O. in 2014 finds all essential check points intact - driving rhythms, howling romance, distortion, echo – but with a new clarity of vision.
Featuring 9 songs clocking in at a compact 32 minutes, and featuring long-time friend of the band Duke Garwood on baritone sax, Wild Crush is the sound of Archie Bronson moving forward with confidence and surety, an album that finds them rooting down yet unafraid to explore hidden musical corners and produce their most exhilaratingly direct music to date.
Having been friends since their teens, S Windett & Arp Cleveland’s musical journey is built on a code of brotherhood; instinctive and intuitive, with distinct nods to their shared musical passions, from driving krautrock motorik beats, moments of classic psych disorientation, to journeys deep into the heart of the Mississippi blues heartlands or ‘O Superman’ pioneering spirit of N.Y. circa 1981.
The years since their last album have seen a change in circumstance for both Arp and S Windett – Arp swapping London for the Cornish wilds and S Windett establishing himself a world-renowned painter with successful shows in London, Los Angeles, New York and Dusseldorf – a fact reflected in the album’s overriding topical thread of the search for salvation and transition via romance and escape.
The track listing of the album is as follows:
1. Two Doves On A Lake
2. In White Relief
3. We Are Floating
4. Love To Pin You Down
5. Lori From The Outer Reaches
6. Cluster Up & Hover
7. Glory, Sweat And Flow
8. Hunch Your Body, Love Somebody
9. Country Miles
Finally, having appeared at the Domino records night in celebration of Independent Venue Week at The Half Moon in Putney, SW London in late January, they recently announced a short U.K. tor to coincide with the album release.
Directed by long time Avey Tare / Animal Collective collaborator Abby Portner, the video tells the misadventure of Little Fang's journey to the cerebral carnival. The Little Fang puppet (part cat, part werewolf) was created by the renowned Jim Henson's Creature Shop and was wrangled by Michael Wick (Nightmare Before Christmas) and puppet mastered by Tim Lagasse (Crash and Bernstein & Sesame Street). Abby shot the video on location at Dorton's LA Carnival in Riverside, CA and at McCadden Studio Space in Hollywood, CA.
"I think my goal for this video was to keep everything mostly in camera and handmade. I ended up using visual effects throughout the video, but I really wanted to showcase the craft of the things that were made like the puppet and physical set pieces," explains Abby. She goes on, "I also wanted to reference horror movies, like the car scene in Psycho and the lake in Malibu that the little girl climbs out of in the original Frankenstein. Dave [Portner] and I were inspired by Jim Henson, who had a funny dark side, so we tried to make a video that also had light hearted dark side".
Head over to The Creators Project for behind the scenes photos from the shoot and an in-depth interview with director Abby Portner here.
Slasher Flicks by name alone is not what it appears to be. Scrambled horror film soundtracks? Not even remotely. A bunch of East Coasters making their quintessential LA album? No, more like escape from LA, say guitar-wielding Avey Tare (of Animal Collective), keyboard player and singer Angel Deradoorian (of Dirty Projectors, Deradoorian), and drummer Jeremy Hyman (of Ponytail, Dan Deacon). If LA is an environment to get lost in, as they claim, this group sewing roots in SoCal have become lost in the best way: relocating and reinventing sounds they’re already skilled in making, sounds that as Avey Tare says, are not only regionally unrestricted but that “come from a place that’s not human.”
The band will head out on a North American tour following the album’s release. All US dates are below and a special ticket and album bundle is available to purchase now from the band's site, which also contains live performance footage. After releasing two hard-hitting albums and countless singles on various labels - we're thrilled to welcome White Lung to Domino. Vancouver’s resilient rock n’ roll outfit hit the ground running with their new, powerful single “Drown With The Monster” which articulates prevailing lyrics and infectious guitars whirled in relentless drum beats. Watch the video below.
Mish Way on “Drown With The Monster”: “I was looking at these pieces by Andrea Mary Marshall in The New Inquiry and there was this quote from her, ‘Toxic Women are toxic to themselves. They are Tragic Heroines who blow dry their own wounds. I aspire to be the opposite.’ This song is about kicking habits and running away with a new distraction. It's a song about my two biggest vices, but I'd rather drown with the monster than blow dry my wounds."
Drown With The Monster 7" is available digitally and physically on limited edition 7" on April 29. It's available to pre-order now through the Domino Mart and receive an instant mp3 download of the title track.
White Lung will be playing at The Great Escape in Brighton which takes place from May 8th-10th. For more information visit HERE

Watch the ‘The Making of Atlas’
The most collaborative Real Estate record to date, Atlas was written by Martin Courtney, Matt Mondanile, Alex Bleeker and Jackson Pollis while cruising through the Arizona desert and during a presser in Madrid, in a practice room in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and in an attic in the band's hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey. It was recorded in the summer of 2013 in Chicago with Tom Schick (Sean Lennon, Low, Cibo Matto) at Wilco's loft studio where new member Matt Kallman (formerly of Girls) joined the fold on keyboards.

"The Riverbed" is the first full track released from Owen Pallett's new album,In Conflict, and showcases a more brutal tone of songwriting from Pallett with a building arrangement that ratchets the tension in its frenetic build. Appropriately, the accompanying video compliments the mood with its own dramatic struggle. The Eva Michon-directed clip was filmed in Los Angeles and stars career actor Jim Pallett as the protagonist. Owen himself also has a small role in the video as "Jerk #4.” “Typical Hollywood bullshit,” Owen says, about having his supporting role cut down to a mere few frames.
To compliment and contrast "The Riverbed," a lyric video for "On A Path" is also debuting today exclusively on T: The New York Times Magazine and includes a Q&A with Pallett on In Conflict and his Academy Award nomination, alongside Arcade Fire, for Best Original Score (Spike Jonze's Her). Fingers crossed.
In Conflictis full of love songs— more specifically, songs about liminal states and our loved ones locked in battle with them. “The record is meant to approach ‘insanity’ in a positive way,” Owen says— emphasis on the ironizing scare quotes around singular notions of insanity. “Depression, addiction, gender trouble, and the creative state are presented as positive, loveable, empathetic ways of being. Not preferable, per se, but all as equal, valid positions that we experience, which make us human.” Watch the album trailer for In Conflict, featuring illuminating liner notes in an alpine landscape, HERE.
In Conflict will be available on May 12th on CD (WIGCD304), digitally (WIG304D), standard edition LP (WIGLP304) and on limited edition double LP (with 3 bonus tracks) (WIGLP304X) through Dom Mart.
