Villagers are honoured to be performing the first ever live concerts at London’s Old Vic Tunnels on Wednesday the 4th and Thursday the 5th of August 2010.  These will be Villagers first headlining London dates since selling out Bush Hall in May and will coincide with the release of their new single, the wondrous ‘Ship Of Promises’, from their acclaimed debut album ‘Becoming A Jackal’.

In January 2010, The Old Vic acquired the license from Lambeth Council to use Tunnels 228-232 beneath Waterloo Station as a performance venue until the end of December following the critical success of Tunnel 228 – a collaborative project between The Old Vic and Punchdrunk, which combined theatre performance and art installation. BRB (Residuary)’s kind donation of the space has opened up a wealth of opportunity in a highly unusual environment.

The aim is to present all elements of Discovery, for a more affordable ticket price with an eye to new collaborations. The Old Vic Tunnels continues to strive to present work which may be site specific, raw, new, cross media, with a view to attracting a younger audience with Metropolitan flair. The Old Vic Tunnels’ mission is to proudly promote artists, alongside new and undiscovered work by providing them with an outlet for their talent.

“I'm delighted that the first live music in The Old Vic Tunnels will be 'Villagers' a talented young band from Ireland, who I'm sure we'll be hearing more from in the future". Hamish Jenkinson - Director Old Vic Tunnels
